Job description
About us: iconic brand, tiny company.
Polaroid was founded in 1937 by one of the most seminal innovators of the 20th century, Edwin Land. His motto was, “don't undertake a project unless it is manifestly important and nearly impossible.” In 2008, Polaroid shuttered its last factory, but a group of diehard fans came together as The Impossible Project to save instant film. Over 10 years later that startup acquired what was left of Polaroid and today we’re again a small group of people passionate about changing the world through great products.
Job Summary:

You will contribute to the development of cutting-edge mechanical systems across our product lines. You'll work closely with your cross-functional counterparts to design, develop, verify, and validate mechanical solutions, playing a crucial role in driving our products forward. This role involves collaboration with sourcing, manufacturing, to bring products from design to mass production via our product lifecycle framework. If you're a hands-on problem solver with a passion for mechanical engineering and a desire to grow your skills in a dynamic environment, we encourage you to apply and be a part of our journey.

Collaboration with External Partners: Work closely with JDMs (Joint Development Manufacturers), CMs (Contract Manufacturers), and key suppliers to ensure part compliance. Ensure that system and subsystem assembly and test fixtures are reliable and efficient.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with sourcing, manufacturing, and other operations teams in later development stages to bring products to mass production.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering. Actively participate in learning opportunities and apply new knowledge to improve our products and processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
2-5 years of professional experience in mechanical design and development.
Proficiency in using design tools such as CAD software (Creo) for 2D/3D CAD building.
Familiarity with mechanical design concepts for CNC, molding tooling and Sheetmetal tooling.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred qualifications:
Experience with high-volume consumer electronics (cameras).
Knowledge of precision and optomechanical systems.
Strong in prototyping, testing, and validation.
