Polaroid was founded in 1937 by one of the most seminal innovators of the 20th century, Edwin Land. His motto was, 
don't undertake a project unless it is manifestly important and nearly impossible.” In 2008, Polaroid shuttered its last factory but a group of diehard fans came together as The Impossible Project to save instant film. Over 10 years later that startup acquired what was left of Polaroid and today we’re again a small group of people passionate about empowering creators to change the world in the name of Polaroid. 

Job summary:

Polaroid is looking for a Senior Art Director to join our in-house creative team in Amsterdam.

This is a role for a conceptual thinker and exceptional visual designer. Someone who can develop strong campaign ideas together with a copywriter, but who also enjoys crafting the work themselves, from concept to execution.

You’ll play a key role in shaping how the Polaroid brand shows up in the world: across campaigns, product launches, and the evolving visual identity of the brand.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop creative concepts for campaigns and product launches together with a copywriter and the creative director.

  • Translate ideas into clear and compelling visual directions.

  • Design and craft campaign assets across channels (digital, social, brand, launch materials, etc.)

  • Help shape and evolve Polaroid’s visual identity and brand narrative.

  • Collaborate closely with our in-house photographer, producer, and art buyer on shoots and productions.

  • Lead the visual development of campaigns from concept through execution.

  • Ensure a consistent, high-level craft across everything we create.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as an Art Director, ideally on the agency side.

  • A strong portfolio that shows both conceptual thinking and excellent design craft.

  • Ability to develop ideas and visualize them beautifully.

  • Strong typography, layout, and visual storytelling skills.

  • Experience working on brand campaigns and product launches.

  • Comfortable working hands-on in design tools.

  • Passion for photography, image-making, and visual culture.

  • Collaborative mindset, no egos, and a strong team player.

  • Curious, thoughtful, and detail-oriented.

  • Experience working on the brand side is a plus, but not required.

Our creative team is intentionally small. We work closely together across concept, photography, design, and production to create work that stays true to Polaroid’s culture and legacy.
